Dark gray cloth hardcover with gilt title on the front cover and spine. Plain brown dust wrapper. Interior in very good condition. The authors memoir includes his service in the Civil War and his career as a Lutheran minister. He enlisted in the Seventh Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry Regiment commanded by Colonel Weinkoop. The author wrote a history of the Civil War titled "Saber Strokes in the Civil War." The author was 90 years old when his memoir was published. Inscribed by his grand daughter (Doris Phillips) on the right front flyleaf to the previous owner. Includes a signed letter by Doris Phillips and a period promotional brochure of the book.
