Thomas Mulder was born in Salt Lake City on March 14, 1939 to Dr. William and Gweneth Gates Mulder and spent most of his life in the city. His father was a Dutch immigrant who came to the U.S. with his parents in 1920. Six years later they moved to Salt Lake City. and WIlliam Mulder became an English professor at the University of Utah At his death earlier this year at the age of 92, Tom Mulder was described as “a gentleman scholar, mentor, bibliophile, Mormon historian, English and American studies professor and advocate of Indo-American scholarship.”.
