A beautiful full-morocco Cosway binding, in a deep rich-red, with decorative gilt-flourishes along the panels and intricate gilt-tooling within the compartments. A lovely water-color portrait of Benjamin Franklin to the front panel. Signed by the binder (Frost of Bath, England) at the foot of the front pastedown. Octavo, all edges gilt. Very light foxing to the preliminaries, otherwise clean as could be internally. The 1939 1st edition. Also includes a custom, unprinted, red-cloth slipcase. This copy from the library of renowned CBS newsman Charles Osgood, with supporting paperwork. (Inventory #: 23891)
