A collection of traditional stories, myths, and legends of the Tsimshian people, an indigenous group from the Pacific Northwest. Boas collected these texts during his fieldwork among the Tsimshian in the late 19th century. The book includes the texts in their original Tsimshian language, with English translations provided by Boas, as well as linguistic analysis and commentary. Quarto: 244 pp. In a one-half brown morocco over burgundy cloth binding, with gilt-stamped titles, five raised bands, blind-stamped (truncated) borders, and marbled endpapers and edges. Some foxing to the title page, with occasional hints throughout the text. The spine is moderately sun faded, with a bit of wear to the corners; otherwise very good. (Inventory #: 78513)
