London: Printed for Rich'd Phillips, 1803. First Edition. 8vo, pp. xxivm 242, [i], + 7 pages of facsimiles; [1]-260, [xiv], [vi]. Seems to be lacking the title-page and frontispiece in volume 2. Phillips was editor of The Monthly Magazine. Joseph Addison (May 1, 1672 - June 17, 1719) was an English essayist, poet, and man of letters,. His name is usually remembered alongside that of his long-standing friend, Richard Steele, with whom he founded The Spectator magazine. (Inventory #: 41319)
