London: Pickering, 1843 First edition thus. The "Hellenistic Edition" was edited by Edward William Grinfield (1785-1864), who founded and endowed an Oxford lectureship on the Septuagint in 1859. Contemporary calf, ruled in blind and with blindstamped leaf and cross ornaments, black and burgundy morocco spine labels, edges stained red. . Two volumes, octavo. Title-pages in black and red, with Pickering anchor and dolphin device. Includes the editor's preface, Apparatus Hellenisticus (a list of books consulted), the text, with running commentary, followed by a list of Citata et parallela. Binding extremities rubbed in places, former owner's signature, dated 1890. A few neat ink marginal notations in Greek. A very good set. Pickering also did a small (8.5 cm.) one volume Greek New Testament in the Diamond Classics series in 1828.
