1930s. Original autograph signature of British land racing figure George Eyston, written in vintage fountain pen ink on a 4” x 3” piece of paper. Fine. Captain George Edward Thomas Eyston, MC OBE (1897 - 1979) was a British racing and land speed record car driver in the 1920s and 1930s. Eyston was one of the first British racers to travel to the Bonneville salt flats of Utah, with his record-setting car ‘Speed of the Wind’ and for land speed records set in his car ‘Thunderbolt.’ He is the author (with Barre Lyndon) of ‘Motor Racing and Record Breaking,’ and contributed the foreword to ‘The Indianapolis Records’ by Alan Hess.
