Rare, letter from a struggling young Scottish writer, Muriel Spark (1918 - 2006). After her departure from THE POETRY REVIEW, which she edited from 1947 - 1949), Spark started her own literary magazine, FORUM, whose first number appeared in he summer of 1949. Evidently only one other number was issued in the following summer of 1950; and by the time this letter was written, the future of FORUM was seriously in question:
" I am afraid we are rather uncertain at the moment about a future issue of FORUM tho we still have sufficient hope of continuing not to pack it up yet. However, I think it is well to return your P.O. meantime, and when we are ready we shall certainly be glad to have you as a subscriber ... (Inventory #: 232103)
