Vogel (1886-1954) is renowned as founder of the Gazette du Bon Ton (in 1912) and the pioneering large-format weekly photojournal Vu (in 1928), as well as countless art and illustrated books. It was Vogel who discovered Robert Capa (André Friedmann) and sent him on assignment to Spain, where Capa earned his reputation as a war photographer. And it was, of course, the American counterpart to Vu, LIFE magazine, where Eisenstaedt was to make his name not long after this meeting. An important association in the history of photojournalism.
With the signature of "Robert Pisuet(?), Paris, 26 novembre 1935," and, on verso, an inscription, "Toute mon admiration pour les si belles photos Agnès 1935 Paris novembre (Inventory #: 40598)
