London: John Lane The Bodley Head Ltd. New York: John Lane Company, 1921. Octavo, pp. [i-vi] vii-viii [1-2] 3-229 [230: blank] [231-232: ads], original black cloth stamped in red and yellow, top edge stained yellow, bottom edge untrimmed. First edition. Collects twenty-three stories, genial and quite short. Blatchford started out as a Labour politician, then became a rather important Fabian socialist journalist, founding THE CLARION, a socialist weekly paper in 1891, but he finally split with the left and became a Conservative, supporting the country's role in World War I. Some foxing to fore-edges of text block, else a clean, bright, very good copy. (#117470) (Inventory #: 117470)
