by Sterne, Stuart (pseudonym of Gertrude Bloede)
New York: Cassell Publishing Company, 1891. Octavo, original decorated blue cloth, front panel stamped in gold and silver, spine panel stamped in gold. First edition. Semi-epistolary novel of domestic drama, apparently the only work of fiction published by Bloede, who published a good deal of poetry. She was born in 1845 of literary parents, and lived in and around New York. The present volume, like much of the fiction brought out by Cassell in the early 1890s, is a scarce book. Wright (III) 571. A bit of scuffing to rear panel, a tight, clean, very good copy. (#128356) (Inventory #: 128356)
