First edition in English. Five stories by Polish Nobel laureate Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916), author of major fantasy novel GGNIEM I MIECZEM (1884; translated as WITH FIRE AND SWORD, 1890). Most of the stories in the present volume are legends and fables (including one about a meeting of Peter and Paul with the old Greek gods on Olympus) and another about the Hindu deities.
