MURDER BY THE DOZEN: THE CREAM OF THE "MYSTERY" CROP ..
1936 · London
by [Horner, Durbin Lee (editor).]
London: Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1936. Octavo, original cloth stamped in black. First British edition. Collects two short novels, "The Merry-Go-Round of Murder" by Joseph F. Dinneen and "The House That Jack Built" by Colver Harris, eight short stories by Louis Golding, Norman Matso, Ellery Queen, Francis Beeding, Vincent Starrett, John Ewing, Maurice Level and Guy Endore, and two true crime articles, one by George Surdez, the other by Horace Wyndham, all originally published in MYSTERY MAGAZINE. This British edition does not credit the editor, replaces Horner's "preface" with an 8-page introduction by F. Yeats-Brown, and replaces one of the two nonfiction pieces by Surdez with one by Wyndham. Several mild scuffs to cloth, light foxing to edges of text block, a very good copy.
