Light water stains to some of the plates not effecting text. Frontis. Wonderfully illustrated with 30 monochrome plates and 12 chromolithographs including the title-page and many b/w drawings. Fascinating detailed account of the "graphic design" of the past including objects in ivory, jewelry, Nuremberg drinking cups, early heaumes, ancient chessmen, German drinking cups, stirrups, altar furniture, etc. Good reading condition.
