Inside front board sports the ex-libris of none other than Winward Prescott (author of "A Bibliography of Book-Plate Literature"), with an engraving of skull and bones atop a book, surrounded by various crests from other's book plates. Fascinating collection of 20 ex-libris plates mounted on heavy cardstock. Some plates in color. The bookplates are tipped in, some as original engraved prints, others as reproductions, and they belonged to, among others, Minna Tube, Schlossbibliothek Schoeckingen, and Johann Baron Knoop. Artists include Max Bucherer, Adolf Closs, Maria La Roche and T. Falckeisen (original engraving), among others. In German. Under each tipped-in plate is a different mounted b/w reproduction of erotic print. Closed tear on head of spine. Four-inch split along spine on front board, still firmly attached. Small diffuse black stain on front board. Wear to corners and parts of edges. Binding in good, interior in very good condition.
