Jackson Hole, Wyoming, 1952. An autographed letter signed by Maxwell Struthers Burt (1882 - 1954) written in his own hand using a fountain pen on his Three Rivers Ranch personal letter head stationery. Other than two creases from folding, it is in fine condition with no tears, chips or soiling on 8 1/2" by 11" off white paper. The letter is dated July 7, 1952 and written to Mr. Dean F. Kruhel (?), University Archivist for the University of Wyoming at Laramie, Wyoming and refers to a "first-class idea" offering "what assistance I can" to the project. He goes on to explain that he has "gotten away with his life from a bout with pneumonia" and has been ordered by his doctor to avoid any trips. The letter is signed "With best of regards, | Struthers Burt" The upper left corner of the letter shows the brand used on his ranch and a date stamp showing the date of receipt. Struthers Burt was a journalist at the age of 15, a college professor at Princeton, a novelist, poet and a Wyoming rancher. His best known works include Powder River from the Rivers of America series, and Along These Streets.
