In a near fine price clipped dust jacket. The original diary of Frederic Augustus James was over fifty pages in length. This reproduction provides only a portion of the diary but includes the complete text. The diary provides a record of James' capture in 1863 and subsequent imprisonment in five different Confederate Prison Camps. Just over a year after his capture he died in Andersonville Prison of disease and malnutrition. Despite his mistreatment he was determined to survive his ordeal and maintained an optimistic attitude and recorded daily entries in his journal. (Inventory #: TB20116)
