by Aldridge, Robert C.
Washington: Institute for Policy Studies, 1982. Paperback. xii, 86p., wraps, spine and edges of wraps sunned, else very good. Aldridge worked on the Polaris, Poseidon and Trident missile systems; he was "engineering group leader of an advanced design team...but resigned his engineering position in protest to the type of weapon that Trident was shaping up to be." He helped create "mirved" missiles: the ones that carried up to ten Multiple Individually-targeted Reentry Vehicles each with an atom bomb, and were astonishingly accurate, could hit Soviet missile silos as well as cities, and encouraged a first-strike mentality in the Pentagon.
