GEORGE WYTHE, TEACHER OF LIBERTY
by DILL, Alonzo Thomas
(WYTHE) DILL, Alonzo Thomas. GEORGE WYTHE, TEACHER OF LIBERTY. Williamsburg: Virginia Independence Bicentennial Commission, (1979). 8vo. Wrappers. (vi), 101 pages. First edition. One of the volumes in the series published by the Virginia Bicentennial Commission. "In observance of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the teaching of law at the College of William and Mary, 1779-1979." Wythe--one of the least known personages of the Revolutionary period-- was a Revolutionary statesman, signer of the Declaration of Independence, law professor, and mentor of Thomas Jefferson and Henry Clay. Alonzo Dill's biography, although slim, is considered the best biography of this distinguished Virginian. Minor stains to front wrapper, else very good. (Inventory #: 35317)
