Third American edition of James' guide to domestic relations, marriage, and religious life in the family. There are seven chapters, three concern reciprocal duties of husbands and wives, while the other four treat of parents and children, and masters and servants. The true first had appeared only the previous year in Birmingham, England. James was a highly popular evangelical nonconformist minister.
