Moses Stuart (1780–1852), Professor of Sacred Literature at the Andover Theological Seminary, was a noted Hebrew scholar, the first to succeed in introducing German Biblical scholarship to an American audience, and "the first American theologian to become favorably known abroad" (DAB).
