Thomas Scott was rector of Aston Sandford in Buckinghamshire, a member of the Evangelical movement in England, and a friend of John Newton and Charles Simeon. He also authored a commentary of the Bible, and a number of other theological works. To his "Essays" John Henry Cardinal Newman attributed his own conversion to Christianity. This biography by his son incorporates much autobiographical material.
