Risler ( 1720-1811) provides the first biography of Moravian bishop August Gottlieb Spangenberg (1704-1792) who spent time in the U.S. off and on during the 18th century, beginning in 1735 with his arrival in Georgia followed by about 4 years of travels through the colonies, with a return trip to the U.S. in 1751 lasting till 1762, staying mostly in Pennsylvania, and a 1789 stay in St. Kitts. Spangenberg was a close friend of Zinzindorf and his biographer.
