Manual of diplomatic customs, procedures, & formulas apparently published for the market in newly independent Latin America where diplomatic relations with foreign powers were just beginning. This may well have been the standard manual for Latin America's first ambassadors and consuls in Europe. The two volumes present cover such diverse topics as diplomatic missions, secret missions, types of diplomatic agents, credentials, public behavior, prerogatives (e.g., immunity), ceremonies, length & ending of missions, correspondence, acts of abdication, declarations of war, & many other matters. Trans. by Mariano Jose Sicilia.
