New York: E.P. Dutton / Virginia Quarterly Review, 1941. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First edition. Fine in an attractive, Arthur Hawkins-designed very good dustwrapper that has some tears and small chips, mostly along the spine where it meets the rear panel. A nice copy of a novel that won the Thomas Jefferson Southern Award. The novel, about a black-owned juke joint in rural Texas purports to be a true portrayal of black life, but seems to descend to stereotypes pretty quickly. (Inventory #: 70457)
