(no dust jacket) [moderately worn copy, several tiny rips in cloth at spine ends, spine slightly turned, light fading/soiling to decorated cloth covers, bookplate on verso of ffep, vestiges of mostly-erased pencil scribbles at bottom of front pastedown]. INSCRIBED ("To / My good friend and / fellow worker. / _______________), SIGNED and dated by the author, in the year of publication, on the ffep. Short stories about a young Mexican woman named "Rosario," whose real-life counterpart, per the author's introduction, was given "as a baby to a childless Mexican couple of the laboring class, while her fther was fighting in the revolution. She was brought by them into the United States, and 'learned the gospel,' as Mexicans phrase it, in Superior. She graduated from a mission school in Los Angeles, and as this is writen, is preparing herself in an institution of higher education for work among her own people."
