Osaka: Kaiho Shuppan, 1994. Paperback. vii, 128p., text in Japanese, illustrated with b&w photos and figures, very good trade paperback in pictorial wraps, wraparound band intact. The author, a hemophiliac who contracted AIDS through contaminated blood, writes of his experience with the disease. He argues that AIDS has offered an opportunity to rethink not only sexuality but the state of healthcare and the problems of the medical establishment in Japan. The book documents his efforts to fight prejudice and to raise awareness of AIDS and the iatrogenic AIDS scandal in particular. Includes a critical evaluation of the role of the media in stoking fear and misunderstanding. (Inventory #: 153635)
