Requiem for democracy? an inquiry into the limits of behavioral control
by Andrews, Lewis M. and Marvin Karlins
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971. vii, 148p., first edition blue cloth boards with white cloth spine, a pretty book in an undistinguished dj. Jacket besides aesthetical problems, is slightly edgeworn with a couple of short creased closed tears BUT is now in an archival-grade brodart to size. Appends a good reading list, but no index, so one cannot at a glance know what they make of their references. Requiem is cluttered with academic notions, Andrews at writing a doctoral candidate in behavioral psych at Stanford, Karlins a psych prof at CUNY; they are wannabe philosophers, and their specialized knowledge of behavior control is not well expressed, (Inventory #: 96531)
