Numerous full-page illustrations, some published for the first time, all with tissue-guards. Illustrations by R. Seymour, R.W. Buss, Hablot K. Browne("Phiz"), and J. Leech. Some foxing, never heavy. Plates are fresh and clean. Prior to the text in Volume I are printed; the original announcement of the work, dedication of the original edition, preface to the original edition, prefaces to later editions, addresses issued with the original parts, and a suppressed note.
