Panelled spines with elaborate gilt designs and red leather labels. Spines have been professionally restored, hinges reinforced. Dark green endpapers, likely replaced at some time in the past. Presented together with: PARADISE REGAINED, WITH SELECT NOTES SUBJOINED; TO WHICH IS ADDED, A COMPLETE COLLECTION OF HIS MISCELLANEOUS POEMS. "PARADISE LOST" contains a portrait frontispiece and lovely vignette title-page, as well as a vignette tail piece at the conclusion, and a full-page engraving of Adam and Eve. "PARADISE REGAINED" has an engraved frontispiece and a single full-page plate of Samson and Delilah at p.130. Plates are moderately foxed, with some peripheral water-staining.
