Early (undated) edition of a popular Metropolitan Life give-away. This promotional pamphlet emphasizes thrifty food purchasing and preparation for the average housewife; it contains, for the most part, fairly straightforward and regionally neutral recipes like pot roast, potato croquettes, and tapioca pudding. The front cover illustration depicts a mother with bobbed hair mixing dough for two eager-faced children.
