Two works bound in one volume. vi, 7-148; 232pp. In the original publisher's quarter cloth and plain boards with a printed spine label. Overall wear to the boards and spine, the front joint is split, scattered foxing to the first work, good. A scarce edition of Borrows' two most noted works. The first work appears to be an abridgment (the first American edition was published in New York by Wiley and Putnam in 1842); the second work is the ninth edition. Borrow's account of the Gypsies of Spain is accompanied by a vocabulary of their (truncated)
