1843 · Santafé be Bogotá
Sor Francisca Josefa (1671–1742) wrote this work at the insistence of her confessors, but it lay unpublished for 75 years after her death. Her nephew Antonio María de Castillo y Alarcón prepared it for publication in 1813, but things intervened and it was not published until 1817, in Philadelphia! This is the second edition. These 100 short essays express her precepts of how to lead a spiritual life.
Apparently a scarce work for we trace only five copies in the U.S. Contemporary quarter reddish-brown leather with marbled paper sides; leather a bit scuffed, front joint (outside) starting at the top, pulled at the bottom exposing the footband; board edges rubbed. Scattered foxing. (Inventory #: 32794)
