by LEWIS, Alfred Henry
New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1902. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Frontispiece in earliest state. Lacks front free endpaper, a little cocked, else a very good or better copy. Lewis was a socially conscious reporter who migrated to the West and wrote a series of Western novels and stories, in the process introducing fabled lawman "Bat" Masterson to journalism. In 1917 and 1918 four separate films were made from the Wolfville stories, at least two of them using the same cast and crew. (Inventory #: 84510)
