La Haye: Adrian Moetjens, 1710. 2 volumes in 1, 12mo, pp. [16], 254, 320; woodcut printer's devices, initials, and head- and tail-pieces; full contemporary mottled armorial calf stamped in gilt, gilt-tooled spine in 6 compartments, red morocco spine label, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers; edges a bit scuffed and rubbed, small 20th-century bookplate to front pastedown, first volume lacking the final blank, short tear to C1 in vol. II (no loss); very good and sound. Early edition of Dubos's history of the Leage of Cambrai (first published in Paris the previous year), which was highly regarded, along with his most lasting work Réflexions critiques sur la poésie et sur la peinture (1719), by such luminaries as Voltaire (see Encyclopædia Britannica, 11th ed.).
