Spine worn, chip to head, lower two inches missing, boards rubbed, corners scuffed, front free endpaper loose, text signatures separated from boards, ends occasionally chipped and brittle, maps complete with minor creasing; tears only at the edges and margins not affecting maps themselves; fair with good contents and still a useful copy of this important document.. 45 pp. + maps [3]. Folio. Dawson's 1857-58 expeditions to the rough country beyond Lake Superior resulted in his 1859 report and to his eventual hiring to construct the line of communication in 1868 which he first proposed in this report.
