Paris: Repertoire Dramatique, 1846. Quarto. Three quarter pebbled morocco and marbled boards, t.e.g., original printed blue wrappers bound in. Spine gilding rubbed, small mend at edge of wrapper, otherwise a very nice, untrimmed copy. A work frequently misattributed in earlier days by collectors, dealers (and as here, binders) to William M. Thackeray, due to the absence of distinguishing initials. A translation into English was published in 1884 and perpetuated the misattribution. The music was the work of Gustave H. Roger.
