This edition was corrected by the author and augmented by a table of contents. One of the most significant political works of the 18th century, first published in Geneva in 1748. It was put on the Index in 1751 and condemned by the Sorbonne. Noted in Printing and the Mind of Man (London 1963) where it is said to have "...deeply influenced the political thinking which led to the French and the American Revolutions.". Nouvelle Edition.
