Carefully calligraphed early ownership signature on title leaf ("John Costman"), early acquisition inscription at base of title, some minor foxing along the top edge, and faint old floral offset to gutters of first two leaves, outer margins slightly darkened, but a very good, crisp copy. First edition (and sole separate lifetime printing) of the first literary work to which Johnson saw fit to affix his name.
