Florida, 1946. Hardcover. Very Good. Octavo. Green leather spiral bound photo album measuring 6½" x 8". Contains 132 black and white photographs most measuring 3¼" x 4½", housed in adhesive album pages with mylar boards. Front board nearly detached thus very good minus; contents are fine.
A collection of photos taken shortly after World War II of the 38th Army General Hospital in Florida and a few images of a road trip to get there, about 15 photographs depicting various road signs from crossing state lines on the way to Florida, such as Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri. The majority of the album pictures barracks and headquarters of the hospital, primarily a "tent city," with numerous uniformed soldiers and nurses in both posed and candid photos, images of a picnic thrown in their honor, and of army vehicles, including a few of an army ambulance. A few of the photos show a day of leave spent around Florida with shots of adobe houses, palm trees, a close up of an armadillo, and boating.
An interesting vernacular album showing the day-to-day events in an immediately post-War Army hospital. (Inventory #: 393701)
