Paris: Firmin Didot, 1806. original plain paper wrappers. Didot, Firmin. 8vo. original plain paper wrappers. (xiv), 264 pages. Traduites en Vers Francais par Firmit Didot. Gravé, Fondu et Imprimé par le Traducteur. First edition of Didot's translation, and the first book published by Didot. (Brunet V: 1302; Updike I, p.218). As he notes in his 6 page dedication to this brother Pierre (printed in a beautiful large cursive type), Firmin notes that he is dedicating to his brother "le premier ouvrage que je publie," printed by him in a typeface ("Anglaise") of his own design and from his typefoundry. An important book by this brilliant and learned scion of one of Europe's most important typographic families - the Didots. Only slight foxing.
