He reviewed the context, arranged the commentaries in their places ... Samuel Pitiscus added the most abundant and most reliable indexes of things. Bound in full contemporary calf, raised bands with compartments fully gilt decorated, edges speckled red, early engraved bookplate of Dr. Friderki Petrina. A very handsome copy. Sextus Aurelius Victor (ca. 320 - ca. 390) was a historian and politician of the Roman Empire and author of a History of Rome from Augustus to Julian (360), published ca. 361 which has been translated, corrected, and updated several times by various scholars. The present copy includes, in part, the translation of a female editor, the renowned French scholar and translator of the classics Anne Tanaquili Fabri's daughter better known as Madame Anne Le Fèvre Dacier (1654 -17 August 1720).
