Designed by Alan James Robinson, using lettering design by Suzanne Moore originally created for A FOWL ALPHABET, the alphabet is represented by American wildflowers and their attendant insects and is printed giclee on an Epson 9890 Giclee Printer, from original watercolors by the artist. The wildflowers range from Red Clover to Ladyslipper to Jack-in-the-Pulpit to Knotweed and include bees, hummingbirds, spiders, and butterflies. The colors are strong and vibrant and the alphabet in cherry red, while not overpowering the floral images, boldly introduces them. Botanically accurate, these colorful, common beauties of the plant world will seem familiar, but no less welcome to the viewer / reader. Their common names are printed in blue. This is the first giclee book from Alan James Robinson, and his first book in several years. It is lovely and true to the natural world which has always inspired this artist. (Inventory #: 10470)
