From concord to dissent: major themes in English poetic theory, 1640-1700
first edition
1973 · [Menston, Yorkshire]
by Korshin, Paul J.
[Menston, Yorkshire]: Scolar Press, 1973. First edition, 8vo, pp. xiii, [1], 221, [10]; original cloth in brown pictorial dust jacket; about fine. Inscribed and signed by the author to Gwin Kolb on front free endpaper. Laid in author ALS on his letterhead also addressed to Kolb, in which Korshin jokes about the jacket's cover art: "The publisher's art people tell me the cover design has emblematic significance..so arcane that I can't be sure about it. Probably one big dragon spawning little dragons (= strife is eternal [?])." The "big dragon spawning little dragons" on the upper jacket cover is a reproduction of an engraving from Il Trionfo della Virtu, Modena 1660. (Inventory #: 45834)
