The sketch in this copy is of a girl reading, with her right hand extended. In the margin are two other drawings of the right hand. Original white cloth, decoratively stamped in gilt and blind, top edge gilt. Pictorial endpapers. . Quarto. Frontispiece and fifty-three color plates, thirty-four black and white plates, with tissue guards, and numerous text illustrations. Spine a bit discolored, light soiling to covers. Hinges starting to crack, but very sound. "Miss Greenaway's correspondence, autobiographical notes, her records, and several firsthand recollections of friends and acquaintances were admirably compiled and documented in that volume.
