Paris-Nice: Editions Sodac, 1947. One of 30 copies on velin pur fil de Marais (watermark: shield & "pur fil de Marais"), from a total edition of 300. This copy with Original Pen Drawing "Ete" [Summer] by Picard le Doux mounted in forward, with an extra suite of the 30 woodengravings. Handsomely bound in 3/4 blue morocco and pastepaper boards; spine panneled, title gilt; top edge gilt, some scuffing to edges still a handsome copy. Illustrated by Picart Le Doux with woodengravings colored by Gerard Angioline. In addition to woodengravings of which the four of the Seasons are hors-texte, Picart Le Doux designed the capital letters printed in color. As an artist Picart Le Doux was a skilled decorator and appliedssome of his talents along with Lurcat to the design of tapestry cartoons resulting in a renaissance of this ancient aret on the looms of Aubusson and other traditional centers.
