by Courteline, Georges
Monte-Carlo: Aux Editions du Livre, 1949. One of 5000 on grand velin crevecoeur. Bound by LEPRETRE: 3/4 black morocco and paste-paper boards in vertical bands with semi-circular repeat stamped in pink and blue, spine smooth, title gilt, top edge gilt (stamped in front blank: Lepretre), fine. Frontispiece and 23 lithographs hors-texte printed in color after drawings by Albert Dubout, plus 18 lithograhs in black in-texte. Dubout's boisterous humor and the absurd cartoonery of his drawing in strong colors gives zest to this comical satire of the office employee, the bureaucrat and the workaholic. Printed under the direction of Andre Sauret on the presses of l'Imprimerie Central, Lausanne. The lithographs of Dubout printed on the presses of Mourlot Freres in Paris. (Inventory #: 669)
