This poignant collection of 8 songs composed and sung in Buchenwald by Chanoir, a French political prisoner, is illustrated with 16 original lithographs (7 in duo-tone and 9 in b/w) by P. Jardel. Each lithograph depicts and documents the struggle for existence that characterized life for the prisoners amidst the daily horrors of the camp. One of 450 copies on pur fil du Marais paper, of which this is No. 99. Dust-jacket age-toned on spine and along edges. Some creasing to spine. Text in French. DJ in overall good- to good, wrappers and interior in very good condition.
