First edition, 8vo, pp. 192; 125 illustrations, 40 of them woodcuts by Richard Rother-Holzschnitte, color folding map in back; grey cloth with gilt stamped design on upper cover and gilt title on spine; near fine in a very good pictorial dust jacket with a few shallow chips. Inscribed by Kraemer and his wife on front free endpaper. Ado Kraemer was a German chess master and problemist and was a leader in the New German School of chess. He became an SS officer during WWII, was incarcerated after the war, and afterwards became a prominent winegrower.
