The Idylls of the King (in Publisher's Printed Box)
first editionOriginal cloth
by Alfred Tennyson
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1911. Original cloth. Near Fine. Eleanor F. Brickdale. A handsome copy of this 1911 Eleanor Brickdale-illustrated trade edition. Clean and Near Fine in its beautifully gilt-decorated navy-blue cloth. Mild soiling at the endpapers, neat, small former owner name to the front free endpaper. Otherwise, clean as could be internally. Thick quarto, 21 tipped-in, full-page color illustrations with accompanying printed tissue-guards. Also includes the publisher's fragile printed box, which shows wear along the edges and is missing the lid's fore-edge. Still though, sturdy and very presentable.
